Navigation menu

With the "Navigation Menu" feature, the main menu in the FRAMR Directory module can be individually created and managed. Menu items can be added for internal pages or external links and arranged in a hierarchical structure. This results in a clear and well-organized navigation that can be flexibly adapted. Menu items can be activated or deactivated as needed, allowing content to be specifically controlled and presented in a structured way.

Create or manage menu item

To add a new item to the menu, click on "Add menu element".

A new window will open where you can edit the following settings:

Title:
The "Title" option lets you define the display name of your menu item. This name will appear in the navigation menu and should clearly and understandably indicate where the menu item leads — for example, "Home," "Team," or "Contact."

Linked to:
The "Linked to" function determines what the menu entry in the navigation menu points to — in other words, what content will be displayed when it is clicked. You can choose from various target types:
  • Data model
  • Entry
  • Website URL
  • Map
  • Map layer
  • Map area
  • POI on map

Depending on your selection, the appropriate input fields will appear to the right — for example, a list of available entries or map objects. This allows you to link menu items specifically to content or functions within the Directory module or to external sources.

Icon:
The "Icon" option allows you to add a suitable icon to each menu item. In the selection bar, you first choose the type of icon — for example, a standard icon or a custom symbol. Optionally, you can upload your own symbol or icon below, which will then be displayed next to the menu entry. This makes the navigation not only functional but also visually appealing.

Menu active:
If you want to temporarily deactivate a menu item, simply toggle off the "Menu active" switch. The menu item will no longer appear in the frontend, but it will remain in the system and can be reactivated at any time — ideal for seasonal content or scheduled publications.
