Areas
On the FRAMR. support page about “Areas,” you’ll learn how to create and edit areas in the map editor. You’ll find out how to define zones by tracing outlines on the map, adjust or remove corner points, and individually name, color, lock, or change the height of areas. This guide helps you design your map structure with precision and clarity.
Areas on the FRAMR. map represent defined sections within a map layer – for example, rooms, zones, or functional areas. They serve to visually structure and functionally organize your layout. You can customize them by manually tracing their outlines on the map background, adjusting their shape, assigning a color, or giving them a name. Additionally, areas can be assigned properties such as lock status or height.Areas help you create orientation, highlight specific sections, or enable interactive features (e.g., for digital wayfinding or room management).
Create and Edit a New Area on the Map
To create a new area on your map, click on “Edit areas” in the top options bar, then select “Add area.” This will create a new area.
Now trace the contour of the area by marking the outline of the underlying plan. Start with a double-click to place the first point, and add additional points by double-clicking as well.
After creating the area, you can easily adjust it: Select a corner point and move it to the desired position using drag and drop. If you want to remove a point, right-click on it and select “Delete vertex”.
Important: New points are always added to the last placed point – so plan your click sequence accordingly!
Under “Edit area,” you can customize the area exactly to your liking:Assign a name, choose a color for better distinction, lock the area to prevent editing if needed, or change its height relative to the map layer – for example, for raised platforms or lowered sections.
